The Story I Will Write

Humans Aren’t Real

In altered states of consciousness, lucid dreaming, astral projection, or even deep meditatio, one unsettling realization often arises: humans aren’t real. Not in the sense that we don’t exist, but in the way we perceive each other in those states. The people you meet there don’t show up as flesh-and-blood individuals. Instead, they appear as dream characters, energetic silhouettes, archetypes, or shifting forms. They feel alive, yet not bound by the same rules that shape us in waking life. The Dream Characters Within Lucid dreaming allows you to step into your own subconscious. Here, the “people” you encounter are often constructs of your inner world, your fears, your memories, your hidden desires wearing human masks. They might argue with you, guide you, or disappear without explanation. They are you, just in disguise. Astral Bodies & Energy Forms Astral projection takes this further. Many describe leaving their physical body and entering a dimension where people are less like humans and more like fields of energy. Friends may appear as glowing presences, strangers as shifting figures of light and shadow. The experience suggests that beneath the physical surface, what we call “human” is really energy, awareness temporarily shaped into form. Humans as Symbols, Not Individuals In these states, humans dissolve into symbols. A friend may appear as a bird, reminding you of freedom. An enemy may appear as a shadow, forcing you to face your fear. A loved one may show up as pure light, embodying comfort and safety. The “reality” of these figures doesn’t matter. What matters is the meaning they carry into your awareness. Integration Into Waking Life When you wake, it’s tempting to dismiss it all as dream logic. But these encounters reveal something profound: the human form is only one layer of reality. Behind the mask, we are shifting energy, consciousness, and story. So perhaps the phrase humans aren’t real isn’t nihilism at all. It’s an invitation to see deeper, to recognize that the people around us are more than the physical shells they occupy. They are dreamers, archetypes, and luminous beings in their own right. Final Thought The next time you drift into a lucid dream or slip out of body, pay attention to the people you meet. They may not be “real” in the ordinary sense, but they may carry truths that your waking mind has been too busy to hear.
